Photo: Laconia Fire Department (LFD) Senior Firefighter, Jay Ellingson (Gilford-left), discusses the heroics of Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) student, Marshall Nye (Sandwich-center), during class today.  Assisting Ellingson is LFD Deputy Chief, Shawn Riley (Concord-right).  Ellingson and Riley surprised Nye with the Laconia Fire Chief’s Award due to Nye’s assistance in a recent fatal automobile accident on Parade Road, Route 106, Laconia, by presenting the Award during Nye’s EMT class with LRCC President, Dr. Mark Edelstein (Laconia-not pictured), and LRCC Vice President, Jim Vander Hooven (Laconia-not pictured), present. 

 

“Marshall assisted LFD personnel at the scene of the accident in extraordinary circumstances,” says Ellingson to the attendees.  “We wanted to acknowledge Mr. Nye’s heroics in public.”

 

Nye is also a Cadet 2^nd Lieutenant in the NH Wing Civil Air Patrol, Hawk Squadron, Laconia.
